The Raised Toilet Seat Wobbles

A clamp-on riser grips the rim. If the rim is a different shape from the riser, it can only touch at two points, and it will rock no matter how hard the clamps are tightened.
Check the shape first
Measure from the centre of the seat bolts to the front edge of the bowl:
- About 16.5″ — round
- About 18.5″ — elongated
Then check what the riser says on the box. Universal risers exist and fit both, but many are shape-specific and are sold without making that obvious.
If the shape is right
- Clamps under-tightened — or over-tightened, which distorts the riser and lifts the far edge.
- The original seat is still fitted under a riser designed to replace it.
- The rim is not flat — some modern one-piece toilets have a contoured rim no clamp-on riser sits on properly.
Stop using it and switch to a toilet safety frame that stands on the floor, or a bolt-through riser that replaces the seat entirely. Something that takes body weight during a transfer must not move at all.
